You know it's bad when you have close to 3000 songs sitting on the computer in front of you. Yet not a one is enticing enough to start winamp. So I was reading through a relatively recent
MaximumPC looking to see what sort of Mp3 technology I didn't have and stumbled across 2 that I really did need.
Exact Audio Copy is just what the doctor ordered for ripping to waves. I was using
MusicMatch Jukebox for ripping to wave before but EAC seems to rip even my most scratched CD's (trust me I have a few), whereas Musicmatch and a few other rippers I've tried would choke on the CD. Now to Encode to Mp3 I've been labouring along with
Fraunhoufer IIs Mp3 producer since around 98. It works great sound quality is superb, but slow... very slow 5 mins to encode a song on average. Lo and behold
LAME along with a spiffy frontend
RazorLame encodes in realtime on my old P II 350 Ronka! So now I have no excuse... I've been ripping lots of old CD's and have even found a few worth listening to... remember Streetheart :)
